Rethinking industrial maintenance

Mobility Work is the first community-driven CMMS platform. Technicians use it to plan, track and document their interventions directly from the field, on a tablet on the shop floor.

I designed the whole product, working day to day with the product team and the developers. Analytics dashboard, preventive scheduling, equipment records, a mobile app for the field. All of it based on feedback from the teams at Danone, L'Oreal and SKF.

The product

Mobility Work is the first community-driven CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) platform. Technicians use it to plan, track and optimize their interventions from the field, on a tablet on the shop floor.

With the product team, we were aiming for an interface as simple as Le Bon Coin for processes as heavy as SAP PM. No training, and deployable in two days.

Research-driven design

Every improvement started with a signal from the field. Tickets passed on by the support team, interviews with technicians, days spent watching people work in factories. The interface came after.

The maintenance dashboard

On the manager side, you need the whole picture. Interventions, critical equipment, KPIs. Urgent things have to stand out without flooding the screen.

The field experience

Technicians use the app on mobile in the workshop. Large touch zones, critical info first, actions you can reach with one hand. Scan a QR code, view history, create an intervention in 30 seconds.

Design choices

Every decision was tested with technicians in the field. Their shop-floor constraints became the design rules.

Zero training

An interface as intuitive as Le Bon Coin. A technician who has never used a CMMS should be able to create an intervention in under a minute.

XXL touch zones

Technicians wear gloves or have oily hands. Minimum 48px for every interactive zone, generous spacing between actions.

Color coding by priority

Red for a critical failure, orange for preventive maintenance, green for a resolved incident. Readable without reading the text, even from two meters away from the tablet.

Progressive disclosure

The technician sees the essentials first. What, where, how urgent. Technical detail opens on demand, not before.
